I'm going to be honest and say that the Dirty Girl Duet isn't high on my list of favorite series by Meghan. It's a good story, but the re-read was tough to get through. I don't know if it's the characters or what, but Greer & Cav don't keep me entertained quite like Crey & Holly or Mount & Kiera. Maybe someday, I'll make a list in order of my favorite Meghan series to my least favorite. Don't get me wrong, the books are good and the stories are important to know for later novels. I'm just not as invested in these are I am in others. With that out of the way, lets get into the details on these two books.
Book 1: Dirty Girl
Book 2: Dirty Love
“You have to fight through the darkness to appreciate the beauty in the light." ~ Cavanaugh Westman
Greer has decided that she doesn't need a man, especially one who keeps her in the dark like Cavanaugh has. Once again, Greer and her best friend (Banner) mix booze and twitter. This time Greer is letting the world know her and Cav are done. Big brother Crey, can't take anymore of Greer's antics and decided to ship her off to BFE Kentucky (aka Holly's gran's house). While there Greer comes terms with her and Cav not working out and makes a somewhat friend, Logan Brantley. We met Logan in the Dirty Billionaire trilogy and this won't be the last time we see him either. Logan & Banner's story continues in Real Duet. In typical Meghan fashion, we get some twists and turn through the final book in the Dirty Duet. You'll find more lies, murder, and love in this finale. I loved every second of it. Greer has choices to make and Cav needs to let her into his past. It's a rough journey and like Cav's quote says (above). It's very fitting because Greer and Cav fight their way through the darkness of their pasts and truly embrace the beauty that is their future. I feel like everyone can relate with that quote because we all have our own problems and we fight them everyday. Some people choose to stay in that darkness, but when we fight it and make our way out; it's beautiful and we don't even question the darkness that came before it.
Greer & Cav's story is a relatable one. I might not enjoy it as much as other works by Meghan, but I can appreciate a motivational book. Meghan has mentioned before that this story is the one she most relates with herself and Jake. When you think about it that way, it really is amazing. She puts so much of herself into all her stories and it's awesome.
