Red, White & Royal Blue ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
By: Casey McQuistonWhat happens when America's First Son falls in love with the Prince of Wales?
When his mother became President, Alex Claremont-Diaz was promptly cast as the American equivalent of a young royal. Handsome, charismatic, genius—his image is pure millennial-marketing gold for the White House. There's only one problem: Alex has a beef with the actual prince, Henry, across the pond. And when the tabloids get hold of a photo involving an Alex-Henry altercation, U.S./British relations take a turn for the worse.
Heads of family, state, and other handlers devise a plan for damage control: staging a truce between the two rivals. What at first begins as a fake, Instragramable friendship grows deeper and more dangerous than either Alex or Henry could have imagined. Soon Alex finds himself hurtling into a secret romance with a surprisingly unstuffy Henry that could derail the campaign and upend two nations and begs the question: Can love save the world after all? Where do we find the courage, and the power, to be the people we are meant to be? And how can we learn to let our true colors shine through? Casey McQuiston's Red, White & Royal Blue proves: true love isn't always diplomatic.
History, huh?--Okay, so I know I might be late to this book but wow. ๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ปWell done. I truly enjoyed this book. I wasn’t sure how it would go but a fellow book enthusiast encouraged me to do a read-along with her for pride month and I’m so happy I did. Alex & Henry are end game, they’re OTP. I laughed with them, I teared up for them and I haven’t had a book do that in a while. I want a royal highness for a best friend. The interactions between everyone are great. The fact that the story has a female president is so empowering to women everywhere. The diversity in the book was amazing. Thank goodness the author got hit with the idea on I-10. I’m very happy I read this book. I will say I did see those twists coming at the end but I was still happy to read them and see it all play out in the end. I think many would enjoy this book and I encourage everyone to give it a shot.

Wicked ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Book 1 Wicked Trilogy
By: Jennifer L. ArmentroutThings are about to get Wicked in New Orleans.
Twenty-two year old Ivy Morgan isn’t your average college student. She, and others like her, know humans aren’t the only thing trolling the French Quarter for fun… and for food. Her duty to the Order is her life. After all, four years ago, she lost everything at the hands of the creatures she’d sworn to hunt, tearing her world and her heart apart.
Ren Owens is the last person Ivy expected to enter her rigidly controlled life. He’s six feet and three inches of temptation and swoon-inducing charm. With forest-green eyes and a smile that’s surely left a stream of broken hearts in its wake, he has an uncanny, almost unnatural ability to make her yearn for everything he has to offer. But letting him in is as dangerous as hunting the cold-blooded killers stalking the streets. Losing the boy she loved once before had nearly destroyed her, but the sparking tension that grows between them becomes impossible for Ivy to deny. Deep down, she wants… she needs more than what her duty demands of her, what her past has shaped for her.
But as Ivy grows closer to Ren, she realizes she’s not the only one carrying secrets that could shatter the frail bond between them. There’s something he’s not telling her, and one thing is for certain. She’s no longer sure what is more dangerous to her—the ancient beings threatening to take over the town or the man demanding to lay claim to her heart and her soul.
Sassy Ginger Girl--I LOVE TINK. He is the witty sidekick everyone deserves. I always enjoyed his conversations with Ivy and Ren. He is the best and makes this book. Ivy is an interesting character. I enjoyed her inner thoughts and her interactions with characters she’s definitely a wicked heroine. I will say her sense of duty gets a little annoying in the book. Personally, my sense of survival will trump my duty. Just saying. Ren is a total stud and I enjoyed his overall bluntness with ivy. It was refreshing to read his life is short so I’m going to seize the moment mentality. I will say I did see the twists coming at the end. This book goes mock 5 at the end and it’s great. I’m enthusiastic to start book 2 in the trilogy.
Wicked Movie ⭐⭐⭐½
Passionflix & Amazon Prime
All my peeps who don't want to pay for Passionflix, IF you have Amazon Prime, you can do a 7 day free- trial!!! If you forget to cancel, it is only $5.99 a month but I know for some that aren't in their budget. So, if you wanna watch and it does not cost, then that's a way to do it!
First thought when this movie started playing was hmmm, so far so good. This girl looks like Ivy, I can appreciate her pretty hair. Check. Then comes Val & I was like uhmm not exactly how I thought she was. Like her voice honestly just kinda bothered me. Not sure why but it did. My mom thought the same thing, so I wasn't completely alone with that. Second thought, wow that Fae was kind of cheesy, but that's okay because it's the first movie & I expect that. Plus you can definitely see how today's technology is helping create the fantasy world that Jennifer has written. My standards were not high going into this movie. I've had to sit through Twilight, The Vampire Academy Movie, & the pilot episode for the Morganville Vampire series...I knew not to have a high bar. Plus so far (30 minutes in), the storyline is great/accurate!
Bring in Ren & man I wanted to like him, but I was literally cringing 80% of the time he was on the screen. I don't know haha I guess hearing him say his one-liners is way different than reading them. My boyfriend at one point goes, is it this cheesy in the book? I'm like yeah...but it's a different experience when you're reading it. But he played the role well & had that deep masculine voice. I know this wasn't a high-budget film but I wish they could've done better with his tattoos... I mean c'mon black sharpie is the best we can do??
Tink, my fav little brownie, was sad to say kinda creepy haha. I know we have come a long way with computers and CGI, but Tink was weird. I wasn't sure how that was going to work anyway, but yeah...I wasn't a big fan. A shrunken man with computer-generated wings.....bit strange. His actor was very high-energy & squeaky so that was funny. He definitely had the Tink sass & which was great to see. Anyway, without giving away any spoilers, I'd say it's not the worst for a book-to-film adaptation. Not the best, but I'd be down to watch it again someday & get book 2 done! Plus, it didn't cost me anything to watch this, so honestly, it's pretty good. I'd recommend watching it if you're curious and enjoy the series.
Hades & Persephone Series
By: Scarlett St. Clair
Book 1: A Touch of Darkness⭐⭐⭐⭐A Modern Hades and Persephone Retelling
Persephone is the Goddess of Spring by title only. The truth is, since she was a little girl, flowers have shriveled at her touch. After moving to New Athens, she hopes to lead an unassuming life disguised as a mortal journalist.
Hades, God of the Dead, has built a gambling empire in the mortal world and his favorite bets are rumored to be impossible.
After a chance encounter with Hades, Persephone finds herself in a contract with the God of the Dead and the terms are impossible: Persephone must create life in the Underworld or lose her freedom forever.
The bet does more than expose Persephone’s failure as a goddess, however. As she struggles to sow the seeds of her freedom, love for the God of the Dead grows—and it’s forbidden.
Persephone’s relationship with Hades has gone public and the resulting media storm disrupts her normal life and threatens to expose her as the Goddess of Spring.
Hades, God of the Dead, is burdened by a hellish past that everyone’s eager to expose in an effort to warn Persephone away.
Things only get worse when a horrible tragedy leaves Persephone’s heart in ruin and Hades refusing to help. Desperate, she takes matters into her own hands, striking bargains with severe consequences.
Faced with a side of Hades she never knew and crushing loss, Persephone wonders if she can truly become Hades’ queen.
Beware of the ending…Okay well, then that’s a way to end the book!! Guess I’ll be binge-reading book 3. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I adore Hades. He is everything you’d want in a dark god who is really just misunderstood. I will say he & Persephone’s issues throughout most of this book were borderline maddening. I just wanted to throttle both of them!! But I’m content now, and I admit I was heartbroken by a certain part of this book and then my heart swelled when a special gift was given in the last few pages. I’m eager to see how the new relationships build-in book 3. I still love Hermes. His character got more entertaining as the book progressed. I even enjoyed some parts with Apollo. Of course, Hecate is awesome and I’m a big fan. Anyway, I definitely loved this book and will now start book 3!!

Book 3: A Touch of Malice⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
When the Olympians intervene, Persephone finds her future in the hands of ancient gods, and they are divided. Do they allow Persephone to marry Hades and go to war with Demeter or prohibit their union and take up arms against the God of the Dead?
Nothing is certain but the promise of war.
Are you well???---I'm not sure I am haha. WHAT was that ending??? When is book 4?? Definitely enjoyed this read. It really picks up at the last half. Just be ready for that haha. Like this book was wow. SO MUCH STUFF. You can truly see how the first two books were slowly building to this. Hades & Persephone are finally starting to work as a team (for the most part). They're utilizing each other. Sephy has a new work venture & she's engaged!! However, her mother is being a real B. Like what the heck...there's so much going on in this book. You've got rebellion brewing from the mortals, you have egotistical gods on top, & two lovesick puppies who just want to be married. We get to see Persephone become more confident in her abilities & see her grow as a goddess. Hecate is there and she's her normal entertaining self. I enjoyed watching her and Persephone train together. Hermes is everything. He's funny & witty and you can actually see him be serious a few times. Low key starting to be an Apollo fan too....whoops. It was really cool seeing all the Olympians together and seeing their dysfunctional dynamics. Without giving away any real spoilers that's all I'll say about the book, but yeah I loved it and am really sad I have to wait for the next book.
